Masks required for students and staff in schools

Per Governor Inslee’s announcement today, masks will continue to be required in all schools this fall for students, staff, and visitors, regardless of vaccination status. This requirement is based on new CDC guidance

Anacortes School District says it is planning for a full-time, in person return to schools this fall. Wednesdays will remain an early release day (dismissing 1 hour early). They announced that they are awaiting further guidance from the State Department of Health regarding other details, and will keep families, students, and staff informed of any other changes. 

The distict's announcement said they are excited to see students and staff back in our buildings. Remember, the first day of school is Wednesday, September 8 (full day, no early dismissal) for grades K-12. The first kindergarten day is Monday, September 13, and our first pre-K day is Monday, September 20.

Meanwhile, OSPI, the Department of Health (DOH), and the Governor's Office expect all K–12 students to have the opportunity to attend school in-person full-time in the 2021–22 school year. On July 28th, DOH published updated guidance K–12 COVID-19 Requirements for Summer 2021 and the 2021–22 School Year(link is external)

Labor and Industries updated their school employee requirements to align to the new DOH requirements, L&I Requirements and Guidance for Preventing COVID-19.
