Finding PAX: One Woman’s Journey for the Love of Her Wooden Boat
Port Townsend author and sailor, Kaci Cronkhite will discuss her book Finding PAX. Raised on an Oklahoma cattle ranch, Kaci saw the ocean at 21, sailed around the world by the time she was 40, and served as the director at Port Townsend’s Wooden Boat Festival for a decade. Kaci knew better than to buy a wooden boat but when the curvy little 1936 Danish spidsgatter named Pax popped into her email inbox she fell in love. Over the next 10 years, despite the odds, Kaci restored more than just a boat. She solved the mystery of Pax by tracing her history through Denmark, California, and Canada. Her search for Pax’s story became the story of generations—of owners and marine trades craftspeople in three countries. Originally self-published, the book goes worldwide with Bloomsbury publishing in 2018. Saturday, February 17, 4:00 pm at the library.
