Anacortes Family Center is having their 3rd annual Dine Out on Feb. 9. Restaurants are donating a portion of their proceeds to AFC and board members will be stationed at restaurants to explain AFC programs. All in the effort to reduce and end homelessness. Celebrate the Season dinner/auction

The signature event of “Celebrate the Season” is the “Dream It” dinner and auction. This year it will be held on Saturday evening Dec. 2 - also at the Port’s Event Center. This will be a lively evening featuring dinner catered by Gere-a-Deli, a live auction followed by the Patrick McHenry live band. Doors open at 6:30 PM. At the Port of Anacortes Events Center, foot of Commercial Ave. Sponsored by Anacortes Schools Foundation. Local Art Sale

Throughout the summer, work by local artists will be on display in the Library Community Meeting Room. The art will be for sale from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on the Wednesday dates above. Celebrate the Season with ASF

Celebrate the Season with the Anacortes Schools Foundation at their annual fundraising "Dream It" dinner & auction. The event will take place on Saturday evening, Dec. 1, at the Port of Anacortes Event Center, located at the north end of Commercial Ave. The evening will feature a delicious dinner catered by Gere-a-Deli, as well as a lively auction and, of course, an opportunity to support to important school district programs, including a 3-day experience for all 5th graders at North Cascades Institute. Marathon March Point Run & Walk

Racers of all ages and ability (and friendly canines) are invited to participate in the 25th annual March Point Run & Walk, a charity event scheduled Saturday, June 22 in Anacortes.

All proceeds will be donated to "CHOW," a weekend program aimed at eliminating childhood hunger in Skagit County. This program is in partnership with United Way, Skagit Publishing, and Helping Hands Food Bank serving more than 500 area children. Campaign fundraisers hope to raise at least $25,000.

This event attracts a variety of participants, from fun-seeking families to serious 5K, 10K and half-marathon competitors.

Leading off the morning of activities is participant registration at 7:30 a.m

A free, half-mile run for kids starts at 8:30 a.m. Please register pre-register your kids.

Runners/walkers in the 5K, 10K and half-marathon start their races together at 9 a.m. The races are USATF-certified, with chip times.

There is a complimentary lunch for participants, plus live music. The Children’s Museum of Skagit Valley will be there with Frankie the Fire Engine in a “Kids Zone” offering fun activities.

There are trophies for top finishers by age groups for the kids; custom awards from Sauk Mountain Pottery for the 5k, 10k, and half marathon. In addition, there is a raffle drawing during the awards ceremony with more than $1,000 in prizes for participants.

Pre-registration is encouraged at the event website: Pre-registration race fees are $20 for 5k, $30 for 10k, and $40 for Half on or before June 10. After that date, fees are $25 for 5k, $35 for 10k and $45 for Half. Commemorative T-shirts are $15. Seniors over 70 run free, as do veterans. Pre-registration is encouraged but day of registration will be set up and a limited number of shirts will be for sale.

The run begins on the grounds of the refinery at the north tip of March Point in Anacortes. It then takes runners over beautiful shoreline routes on March's Point Road, across the Point and back to the refinery.

To reach the Marathon refinery from I-5, turn off at Exit 230. From Burlington head west on Highway 20 toward Anacortes. Turn right at the stoplight on March's Point Road, opposite Similk Beach Golf Course. Follow signs to the refinery.

Anacortes Relay For Life

Anacortes Relay For Life is June 22-June 23 from 1 pm to 10 am at the Anacortes High School Rice Field.  Survivors and Caregivers please join us at 11:30 for a celebration including lunch and gifts.  Come join friends, family and neighbors in the fight against cancer.  We walk, talk and have fun while we raise awareness about cancer.  We raise money for cancer research, education, patient services and advocacy.  Hope to see you there.

Dash & Splash

The Skagit County Dash and Splash, a fundraiser for Special Olympics, is set for February 18 in Anacortes and will be in person this year. The Dash and Splash is a combination of a 5K Fun Run/Walk and a Polar Plunge.

Participants can choose to select their event: the 5K Fun Run/Walk (Dash), the Polar Plunge (Splash), or both the Polar Plunge and 5K (Dash and Splash). Participants can register online at (look for Anacortes link). 

The Anacortes event will be held February 18th at Seafarers Park. Registration/check-in will open at 9:30am. The 5K Fun Run/Walk will start at 11:00am. An awards ceremony, raffle drawing and costume contest will begin at 12:00, followed by the group plunge. Participants can join as part of a team (work, friends, family, club, team, church etc) or as an individual plunger. Please note that shoes are required to plunge…this is a rocky beach and the barnacles hurt!
