Ice Wall on North Cascades Highway


Washington state Department of Transportation crews who are currently clearing North Cascades Highway found this ice wall near milepost 146 on the west side.

Big Picture: A Grand Parade

The town threw a parade on Monday for Madelyn Kuhnlein, a first-grader, to help celebrate her last chemotherapy treatment in a two-and-a-half year fight against cancer.


Big Picture: OARS team in La Conner race


One of the two rowing teams from Old Anacortes Rowing Society cross the finish line at the end of a 7-mile race from LaConner south along the Swinomish Channel to Skagit Bay and back on Saturday. The crew, rowing the Island Star, finished in 1:09:44.
