Galleries open late Friday night

Downtown art galleries are open Friday night for the monthly First Friday Gallery Walk. The galleries are open from 6-9 pm featuring new works and familiar works by local artists, such as Jane Wallis, whose work, including this one titled, "Uclulet Harbor," are on display at Scott-Milo.

North Cascades Hwy closing temporarily

For the second time during this snowy fall, State Route 20/North Cascades Highway will temporarily close for the safety of crews and travelers due to forecasted overnight and weekend snow, along with an increased risk of avalanches.

A 53-year old Anacortes man’s two large breed dogs were impounded by APD’s Animal Control Officer after the Officer on Monday chased them down on the west side of D Ave. The owner faces two charges of dog-at-large.

On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Anacortes Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public another opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.
