City Parks staff contacted police to report a damaged picnic table on Loop Road in Washington Park sometime in the previous couple of weeks. The table was struck by a vehicle that caused large ruts in the adjacent lawn.

Woman dies after driving off ferry ramp

A woman died when she drove her Jeep Cherokee at high speed off the end of a ferry loading ramp at the Anacortes state ferry landing. Her body was discovered in her vehicle once it was pulled from the water.

A rescue operation was launched this morning after a Jeep Cherokee crashed through crossing bars and plunged into the water at the Anacortes state ferry landing. There was no ferry docked at the time. At least one person was reported inside the vehicle.

Anacortes Parks & Recreation Comprehensive Plan Update

The Anacortes Parks & Recreation Department is updating its 2009 Comprehensive Plan. Three public meetings have been scheduled in order to gather community input on the existing plan, as well as new goals, objectives and inventory.
