Stanek Arrested & Booked

Police have arrested former Island Hospital Foundation Development Director Bernadette Stanek and booked her into county jail. Bail is set at $100,000.

Stanek was taken into custody at 5:30pm Friday evening, according to jail records.

She faces 17 felony charges, including four counts of first-degree theft and 13 counts of forgery connected to the misappropriation of more than $300,000 in foundation funds between 2011-2014, according to court documents.

The charges are Class B and Class C felonies, each carrying a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. Each forgery charge carries up to 5 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
