Police reward offered

Anacortes Police have made the unusual move of offering a reward for information about whoever has damaged police vehicles on three seperate occasions.

Over the past several weeks the Police Department has had vehicles vandalized on three separate occasions. During the early morning hours of September 2nd, October 10th and October 11th someone punctured the sidewalls of the tires on several different police vehicles parked at the police station. They also scratched and damaged the paint on several vehicles. All told, there has been over $5,000 in damage done, not to mention that each of the cars was out of service and unable to respond to calls while they were being repaired.

There are no solid leads as to who is responsible for all of this damage. Last week the Police Department’s Union and the department Administration combined efforts and posted a $250.00 reward for information leading to an arrest. Now, Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound has increased that reward to up to $1,000.00.

If you or someone you know can help Anacortes Police to determine who is responsible for this vandalism please call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or contact APD directly at 293-4684 or anonymously contact our TipLine at 299-1985.
