Vehicle prowl suspect nabbed

Police have arrested a 32-year old Anacortes man suspected of as many as 100 vehicle prowls and thefts over the past several months.

Police Chief Bonnie Bowers said the arrest came Sunday night after uncovering information connecting him to the crimes. "The suspect admitted to somewhere between 50 and 100 vehicle prowls and to subsequently pawning and selling over 100 items at various pawn shops throughout the county," Bowers said in a news release.

He was booked in to the county jail for Investigation of trafficking stolen property in the first degree.

Bowers added, "The investigation is now focused on recovering the stolen items so that they can be returned to the victims."

At least 4 unlocked vehicles were prowled recently, according to last weekend's Police Blotter.
