The Chamber of Commerce’s Beautification Committee decided to introduce larger, more visible banners. Smaller banners have long been used along Commercial Ave. The new banners are three feet taller than the old ones.
The banners will be installed on light poles from 34th to 12th streets and will stay up until November, when they will be switched out for holiday decorations.
The Chamber approved spending up to $8,000 a year for two years on the new banners. The money comes from the city’s Tourism Promotion Fund, which comes from a countywide hotel-motel tax.
