The Noon Kiwanis Club celebrated giving $2 million to the community on Saturday with a block party that included free hot dogs and cake.

The Noon Kiwanis have raised $2 million since 1986 through sales at their thrift shop on O Ave, across from the movie theater. And, they turned around that money and have given it to the community through donations to local organizations and for scholarships.

The club Saturday handed a check for $1,001 for the high school's robotics club, which competed this weekend in Atlanta. That check symbolically put the club's donations over the $2 million mark.

Under tents Saturday on O Ave were around a dozen exhibitors, service project and other groups that have been the recipients of Kiwanis donations. The club passed the $1 million mark in 2001.
