It was bright and sunny on Saturday, so what better to do than run into the water at Seafarers' Memorial Park to benefit Special Olympics.

The combined Polar Plunge and 5k Anne Jackson race raised more than $10,000 on Saturday. The plunge, which required a $50 registration, benefits Special Olympics. The Anne Jackson race benefits Skagit Animals in Need, which looks after neglacted, abandoned and abused horses and other animals in emergency situation.

The 5k Anne Jackson race was in honor of a Skagit County Sheriff's Deputy who was killed, along with 5 other people, during a shooting spree in 2008 in Alger.

By the way, that looks like Sheriff Will Reichardt coming out of thee water wearing the number 118. He had come in third in the 5k race.
