Help shape the future for our kids

The Anacortes School District is holding a public meeting next week on a new strategic plan for the next five years.

For the past 3 months, a group of 28 dedicated, passionate, and invested students, parents, and staff have committed many hours to developing a new Strategic Plan for the District. This Strategic Planning Steering Committee has reviewed research, community and staff feedback, and input from the school board in developing the draft plan. The school board has been working alongside the committee to review and refine this work.

We are excited to share the emerging plan with the public, and therefore I encourage you to attend a public meeting next Monday, April 24, from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. in the District Office Board Room on the second floor of the middle school. Staff, committee members, and school board members will be on hand to answer your questions.

The school board will take this feedback and continue to refine and approve the Strategic Plan over the summer. The final plan will be released in the fall of 2017. A separate opportunity to comment on the plan online will be available this spring.

We hope to see you Monday. Feel free to contact my office if you have any questions.

Sincerely, Dr. Mark Wenzel, Superintendent
