Saturday, May 14, 10am at Seafarers’ Memorial Park
This annual event, hosted by the Anacortes Small Boating Center, is just a great deal of fun. Bring your kayak and mess about with other small boaters. Try some different small watercraft - like the traditional wooden rowboats or small sailing dinghies. Seafarers' Memorial Park is an ideal and spectacular place to launch your kayak or other hand-launch vessel. The beach is perfect sloping gravel, and the views of the islands, Cascades and Mount Baker are breath-taking. There will be a potluck lunch at noon (barbecues provided), and informal boat racing after lunch. Although the official event ends at 4:00, many continue messing about into the evening. And there is and optional (and unofficial) over-night trip to Saddlebag Island for those who just can't stop "messing about". :-)
